The first photo was taken on Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler. The final photo was taken from the main street in Banff, Alberta.
We had 10 confirmed bear sightings along the way, as best we could tell all of them were black. We saw big horn sheep, mountain goats, deer, elk, caribou, chipmunks and more ground squirrels than we could count. And we heard at least one coyote as he/she celebrated the start of a new day!
What we failed to see despite our best efforts was a moose.
*I have very aggressively cropped and boosted colours or otherwise modified a number of photos. The vast majority appear as they were taken. The toughest part of photographing the landscape in the Rockies is the immensity of the mountains.
Driving from Jasper to Banff was overwhelming and at the same time peaceful.
Without a doubt we plan to return to this area and highly recommend it on whatever list of things you have to do at some time in the future.
